2006 Good Design Award winning work
Founded in 1946, a famous wooden bowl made from "zelkova" created by "Sonobe Sangyo".
Zelkova is hard and strong, and has been said to be the best hardwood in Japan since ancient times because of its powerful and beautiful grain, and has been widely used for lacquer ware.
Light, durable and simple design that fits in your hand is safe for anyone in your family to use. The wood base made of only old-fashioned natural materials (lacquer and a little vegetable oil) absorbs plenty of lacquer to create a durable coating on the trees in the forest.
This is a gem using zelkova created by the historic woodworking factory "Sonobe Sangyo" in Odawara, which has won the Good Design Award.
